One franchise that continues to grow is Stepz Fitness, which maximised the business opportunity it presented to engage with consumers on a more personal level, advocating for affordability and offering them the support they needed, guidance to stay on track and continue working toward their fitness goals and easy home access.
The fitness chain has opened 4 new locations and is gearing up to launch its first gym in the ACT, set to open its doors in 2023.
Stepz Fitness is a premier boutique 24/7 gym franchise offering its 20,000+ members tiered and flexible membership options. It is currently ranked among the top 10 gym franchises in Australia. Stepz provides members with access to a friendly, non-intimidating gym space suitable for all fitness levels and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Founded in 2009, Stepz Fitness has 17 locations in both Queensland and New South Wales and is soon set to launch in Canberra, with plans for further expansion on the horizon. Under the direction of Stepz Fitness Franchisor Samuel Waller, Stepz Fitness identified a gap in the gym market and as a result was first in the market to successfully combine a tiered pricing model by incorporating Functional Group Training and 24/7 gym facilities under one roof.
The new model now averages a higher monthly revenue than even the most successful 24/7 gyms in the market with half the members, ensuring that Step Fitness remains a convenient and affordable gym for all.
Samuel (Sam) Waller - Stepz Fitness National Franchisor Sam Waller is the national Franchisor at Stepz Fitness with a passion for changing the lives of others based on his own personal life experience.
In 2013, Sam became the youngest Stepz Fitness Franchisee when he purchased the Stepz Fitness at St Lucia, at 20 years old. As the Managing Director (of Sam Waller Fitness Pty Ltd), he took control of all aspects of the business operations, including marketing, accounts, and payroll. He grew the business to 670 members within two years and had five personal trainers working for him. After achieving the fastest growth experienced in the franchise, the founders of Stepz Fitness took notice.
They identified him as someone who could take the franchise forward and awarded him the position of NSW Master Franchisee in 2015. In 2016 after spotting a large gap in the gym market, Sam created the hybrid franchise model which is now synonymous with Stepz Fitness and the first 24/7 gym and functional group training franchise was opened in Australia. In 2017, Sam took ownership of the national Stepz Fitness 24/7 franchise as Franchisor, taking his vision further, which included global expansion in the longer-term business outlook. Under his leadership, the Stepz Fitness brand has grown to 18 locations across QLD and NSW.
