House Inspect Australia’s Barney and Litsa, their journey from contractors to franchisors.

A proven pathway built on expertise, values and real growth

House Inspect Australia’s franchise model is not theoretical. It is built on lived experience and proven growth. The journey of Barney and Litsa Adamou demonstrates exactly how the business can scale when expertise, values and systems align.

Meet the Franchisors

Barney has been in the industry for over 20 years. He has a background spanning carpentry, steel framing, through to general builder. Barney holds qualifications in building and construction and project management and is licensed to build homes. He joined House Inspect Australia in July 2019 as a contractor, bringing deep, practical construction knowledge that goes far beyond surface-level inspection. His ability to identify building issues, understand why they existed and explain how they should be rectified became a defining strength of the business.

In 2020, Litsa joined the business as a qualified builder. She is the first qualified female building inspector in South Australia and brings a background in senior leadership, property and business. Litsa holds qualifications in building, project management, business and commerce. Her goal was to continue working professionally while maintaining flexibility to spend time with her children. Trained on the job by Barney, she quickly became a core part of the operation.

Together, Barney and Litsa formed a contracting partnership with House Inspect Australia that was grounded in strong values: clients first, team first, family values and genuine people. These values are not marketing statements. They guide how inspections are conducted, how clients are spoken to and how the team operates. House Inspect Australia inspectors are expected to build honest rapport with clients, give clear and accurate advice, and deliver real talk that clients can understand and act on.

Litsa also recognized early that strong partnerships within the building and property industry were critical to long-term success. By networking and building trusted relationships across the sector, she helped position the business as a credible and respected professional service rather than a transactional inspection provider.

The former owner recognized Barney and Litsa’s passion, leadership and alignment with the brand’s vision and, in 2021, offered them the opportunity to buy into the business and become franchisees. At that time, they were completing approximately 15-20 inspections per week. Four years on, their franchise now completes more than 30-40 inspections per week, employs inspectors and administration staff to manage the work, and continues to grow.

This growth highlights a key strength of the House Inspect Australia model. Unlike low-barrier inspection franchises that prioritize rapid onboarding, House Inspect Australia is built on licensed builders, consistent standards and professional accountability. Inspections are supported by Australian Standards-compliant reporting, required insurances, structured systems and ongoing post-inspection support. Quality is protected as the business scales.

In August 2025, Barney and Litsa purchased the rights to become House Inspect Australia franchisors. Their motivation was clear: to grow House Inspect Australia nationally without compromising standards, while empowering others to build sustainable businesses with genuine work-life balance. They understand first-hand that managing your own workload, supported by strong systems and real operational guidance, creates long-term success.

Own a franchise built on real building expertise – not shortcuts

In an industry where it is possible to enter the market with minimal training and no hands-on construction experience, House Inspect Australia chose a different path. From day one, the business was built on the belief that inspections should be carried out by qualified builders who genuinely understand how structures are designed, constructed and meant to perform over time. For franchise partners, this approach matters.

That philosophy has shaped every part of the business.

House Inspect Australia is expanding carefully and deliberately, seeking franchise partners who share its values and commitment to raising industry standards. For those looking to build a business based on expertise rather than shortcuts, it offers a rare opportunity to be part of something genuinely different.

Franchise partners are not starting from scratch. Comprehensive support is already in place, including marketing, social media, CRM and booking systems, training materials and a national training program. Most importantly, franchisees are supported by people who have lived the journey themselves and are available every step of the way.

For those looking to build a respected business with proven growth, genuine support, and a clear point of difference, the pathway and potential have already been laid out and await you to join the team.
