Diverse leadership is increasingly recognised as a driver of better outcomes across industries, and the automotive sector is no exception. As International Women’s Day approaches, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the women who are shaping the way automotive businesses operate, serve local communities, and build lasting trust with customers.
Ashlie Agius, Executive Manager - Marketing, Growth & Customer at JAX Tyres & Auto, says, “Greater female representation in leadership brings valuable perspectives that strengthen culture and support business outcomes for customers and teams alike. Inclusive leadership helps ensure JAX Tyres & Auto can continue to evolve and reflect the communities we serve nationwide.”
“Our female leaders are helping shape the way we operate, innovate and connect with customers, while also strengthening store operations and mentoring the next generation of franchisees. Their leadership is contributing to a more modern automotive industry and demonstrates that diversity isn’t just a value, it’s a business advantage.”
In a male-dominated industry, creating clear pathways, offering mentorship, and supporting women from entry-level roles to leadership positions is vital. Female leaders and role models play a critical role in inspiring the next generation and shaping a more inclusive future across the network.
Morgan Ammitzboll, Store Manager at JAX Tyres & Auto Hawthorn, highlights the importance of trust in leadership, “Trust is everything in the automotive industry. My focus is on creating an environment where every customer feels respected and confident in the advice they’re given. It’s about building relationships that last and showing that professionalism and care go hand in hand.”
The impact of supportive workplaces for women is felt not only at the top but in entry roles across the automotive industry. Charlee Calleja, Mechanical Apprentice at JAX Tyres & Auto Narellan, reflects, “I couldn’t ask for a better place to work. The team are all really inviting, and it’s a great environment to be in. My managers, Dan and Will, have been fantastic mentors and have given me a range of opportunities in my three years here. This is my first job in the industry, and it has now turned into a lifelong career.”
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and the possibilities ahead. While the automotive sector remains traditionally male-dominated, a continued focus on clear pathways, strong mentorship and visible leadership will ensure more talented women can build long and successful careers in the industry.
There is still work to be done, but by investing in inclusion and leadership development, the sector can become both more inclusive, respected and diverse, representing the community it serves.
