Fastway Wollongong wins NSW Franchisee of the Year
Anthony Hamod, Regional Franchisee at Fastway Couriers Wollongong, has been awarded the prestigious accolade of Franchisee of the Year (two or more staff) at the NAB Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) NSW/ACT Excellence in Franchising Awards 2013, held in Darling Harbour on 14 June.
Hamod credits his on-going success to his dedicated franchisees and staff, the Fastway franchise model and his decisive leadership.
“To have won this award is fantastic. It’s one of the highest accolades you can achieve as a franchisee. It’s unexpected but very welcome,” says Hamod.
“Of course, I wouldn’t have been able to accept this award without the team of people behind me at Fastway. From the Courier Franchisees and my staff, right through to the Franchise Support Office team who provide us with excellent support, I’d like to thank everyone for helping make Fastway Couriers Wollongong a success.”
Since taking over the Wollongong franchise with his wife, Andrea, in 2004, Hamod has transformed the depot into one of Australia’s best.
“Having grown up in and around Wollongong, I’ve always had a strong attachment to the area. It’s the perfect haven. The people here are amazing, the lifestyle is great and for businesses, I’ve found that everyone here is very receptive to new ideas and new practices,” says Hamod.
“From day one, I saw the potential in the Fastway franchise model, so when the Wollongong franchise came up for sale, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me. Since then I’ve never looked back.”
For Hamod, dialogue between franchisor and franchisee has played a major role in helping his business grow dramatically over the years.
“The strength of Fastway’s franchise model is that it gives you constant support to promote and grow your business. You can work with the Franchise Support Office to develop new services with the confidence that there is a national network behind you and that’s what makes Fastway great,” says Hamod.
“Fastway is currently celebrating 30 years in business globally and 20 years in Australia, so this award is very timely for our franchise. With so many new initiatives in the works, it’s clear to see the great work Fastway is doing on a national level and the affect these have already had on our business.”
Richard Thame, CEO at Fastway Couriers, says it’s no surprise that Hamod has been selected as one of the state’s leading franchisee.
“The award is the most recent of many for Hamod, including being recognised twice as Fastway Couriers’ own best Regional Franchisee in 2006 and 2010. As our youngest ever national Franchise Business Manager and, later, our youngest ever Regional Franchisee, it’s very clear that Anthony has always possessed a very clear sense of drive and purpose throughout his eleven years with Fastway. His keen business sense, strong leadership and consistent adherence to Fastway’s franchise system has seen Fastway Couriers Wollongong grow to one of the fastest growing in Fastway’s national network.”
